The Tales of India by Daulat Panday

Tales of IndiaTales of India is a book from which I learnt a lot. Every story has an important value. Tales of India has three parts. There are all different types of stories, imaginary (fairy tales), mysterious stories, sad stories etc. Each story is gripping throughout and the language is simple, but words used are amazing. It was very enjoyable to read it.

My favourite story was -‘Prayers have wings.’ It was a story which told that the prayers done with true devotion in heart flies all the way up to the heaven to the Gods, but the other prayers  just reach till the clouds. I learnt that poor or rich does not matter, it is only the devotion, and we should be always contented with what we have.

The best thing about the book was that all the values were shown in a list form in the story. Some of the values I learnt were :

1. Unity is strength.
2. Greediness leads.
3. Friend in need is a friend indeed etc.

I liked the dialogues written in the book very much. They were very much perfect. If the story would be tragic, the dialogues would give a true tragic feeling which would make reading interesting. Same with happiness and love etc. E.g.

How sweet is life and how happy we feel.

Then, I also liked all the fairy tales of the book. The fairy tales are written in such a way that we start believing it is true.

I liked the story – Blue Lotus – also. It was imaginary but had a very good meaning. I learnt from it that beauty has its price, and so it is safe not to possess too much of it.

The author has also used small poems and songs in between which make the story more interesting and enjoyable to read.

Some specific instances I liked were :

I liked when a poor beggar said in the story – Prayers have wings – that :

I have more than a rich king. I have the sun to warm myself all day, birds to sing for me, music of water, gentle winds to fan him to sleep etc.

I was inspired by these lines a lot.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J. K. Rowling

Harry Potter Philosophers StoneHarry Potter is an exciting and adventurous book series by J. K. Rowling.

J. K. Rowling has written 7 parts of this book series. This was the first one. I wish to read all the other six too.

This book is all about magic and witches and wizards. It is about a boy, a special person, who does not know how famous he is until he is invited to the famous magic school Hogwarts. It is described how he has fun in his first year at Hogwarts. My favourite character in this book was Harry, the hero. He was a very brave and courageous boy, ready to take any type of risk. Harry was always keen to know new things and so tried new experiments and experienced a lot of adventure, which was sometimes dangerous too.

Harry loved and always respected his friends which I found really good. I wish to get some of these qualities.

There were certain chapters and instances which I liked very much.

I liked the sorting ceremony done by the old sorting hat. I liked the song sung by the hat before sorting. The song was really funny and interesting.

J K RowlingI liked the incident in which Norbert the dragon was transported up to the roof and then sent to Charlie. That was really worth experiencing – packing a dragon and carrying it a long way to a rooftop.

Next, my favourite chapter was Ch. 16 – Through the trap door. It was adventurous, a bit scary and puzzling. The best part was that while playing chess, Ron, who was a soldier, sacrificed himself so that Harry could make them win in the next step. I also liked the puzzle which had to be solved to enter the door – this had seven bottles amongst which one had to be chosen.

Then next I liked Quiditch (game). It is really enjoyable to read this part while a real match is going on. We get excited, who gets the ball, who scores etc. We feel that we are a part of the audience. The best part was the way Lee Jordan was announcing continuously what was going on. It is like football in the air or basketball.

The author has written in such a way so that we get immersed in whatever situation is going on, so that we feel we are a part of this magical world.

There are parts which are really funny, some which are a bit serious or emotional.

I even liked Hagrid’s way of speaking. It was different and interesting e.g. ted (to), yeh (you).

Some new words I learned are : scruffs, flailing, unravelled, flanked, wafting.

I learnt many values from this book. E.g.

Never give up trying, even if we have to face a lot of difficulties.

Sometimes we should learn to sacrifice some things to achieve something else like Ron did in the chess game.

To believe in ourselves and have confidence, like Harry believed in himself while playing Quiditch.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl

Hi Friends! Today I will share something about one of my favourite books i.e. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Before I read the book, I saw the movie, but it was not enjoyable. But seeing the movie after reading the book was just too enjoyable.

This is a book in which I was always keen to know what would happen next. I could imagine myself in the story. By the time I completed Ch-12 in which Charlie gets the ticket for entering the chocolate factory, I got really excited and from that moment I really wished I could have got a chance like this.

Then when I reached Ch-15, 16, 17, 18, I continuously had water in my mouth and rats in my stomach reading about the chocolate trees, chocolate fruits. Then was the chocolate river. I really wished I could swim in it gulping down chocolate in my every move.

The Author has really described well the factory, the different chocolates e.g. Gobstoppers, hair toffee, squigllers, frizzles etc. We feel to just jump inide the book and start stuffing our bags and mouths with chocolates.

Then next I liked the songs in the book which had funky words which one had heard before.

The main value I learnt was :

Don’t be greedy as it can lead to bad times.

One of my favourite characters was Grandpa Joe, a man of 96 and a half years and Charlie’s grandpa. He was old and not even able to walk properly but his wish and enthusiasm to see the factory made him all right and we could not even say he was sick and tired.

While reading, I could even imagine the taste and smell of the chocolate candies.

Something I felt about Charlie was that he was not at all greedy and respected everyone which is really nice.

I just loved reading this book and like I said before, this is one of my best books.

Incredible You! by Dr Wayne Dyer

H ello! I just read the book – Incredible You! by Dr Wayne Dyer, and I would like to share it with you.

I felt that this book is not just to read, but is a source of encouragement for the people who read it, and one of them is ME. After reading this book, I thought that if I take in the values given in the book, I would surely make my dreams come true and succeed in life.

If I take all values together and summarize the book, I would write the summary in one line i.e.

Be positive with ourself and others, and think positive too.

Dr Wayne Dyer

The author’s writing style is really different.

He explains the topics in four to five lines using wonderful words and creative lines.

One line said by the author was really liked by me –

I’ve been writing books designed to help people realize their own magnificence.

This is the airm of the author while writing this book.

I feel that the aim is fulfilled or completed completely in the book. We come to know things about ourselves which we did not know before.

I could not understand some topics completely. But just by looking at the colourful pictures, I could understand what the author meant.

Its a beautiful day!

The day isn’t over yet. Its just 9 in the morning, and here I am, trying to describe it…

I can hear the birds chirping. Cool breeze is blowing. I am looking out the window, and notice five beautiful shades of green, just there, as if to caress my eyes.

I am sitting with my brother, thinking hard, trying to create my first real blog post.

I think this will be all for now. I will come back in the evening with a poem I had written for the school magazine.
